Day 28 message....9:49

See two below messages.

I should have said this before. Despite the likelihood of uninvited intruders tonight, the setting in this camp is actually quite fabulous. It is set 8 miles back from Highway 80, and is accessible only by a one lane blacktop road that winds through the forest up and down hills, over brooks and ravines, and where there is no opportunity to turn around. The camp only has about 10 campsites. It is situated right next to a fast-running creek that is sure to help me sleep tonight, which I might not otherwise be inclined to do. We are in ravine, surrounded by mountains on all sides. A birds-eye view of the camp right now would show nothing but pitch black, punctuated only by a yellow tent lighted from within, in which Donner and i are doing our thing. The night is extremely clear with lots of stars shining through the trees and a bright moon casting some modicum of light down on us. From within the tent the sound of Luciano Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma can be heard wafting through the forest. I hope the bears and the raccoons understand Italian, and if so, they had better listen to the last three words of that beautiful song, Vincero, Vincero, Vincero, that is, I will win,  willI win,  I will win.

How we got to this settle in this camp unexpectedly, 70 miles from where we were supposed to be,  is another story, which i will post tomorrow.
